College Financial Aid – Fafsa?

By Rob

I am curious as to how the government determines how much money a student can receive through the FAFSA? Is there a set amount for every student? What determines eligibility? Is a non working student living with their disabled parents eligible for more money? Thanks!

The less money you make, the less you are required to pay. The FASFA takes your and your parents income to decide how much you should be able to pay. THE EFC is the amount that is reported to the school too see how much money you should receive to pay for books and other stuff.

If you are over 18 and not living with your parents they only go on your income. OK, I am 51, I go to college. I am taking online classes towards my Associates Degree in Medical Billing and Coding. I worked at a job making 7 an hour, f/t and I get financial aid and I do not pay a thing

You put in your social security number and social scurity number of your parents. From there they can determine how much you are eligible.
